In December 2000, Washington, D.C. - based visual artist Kathy Keler returned to India for a solo show at the American Center in Calcutta.. This exhibit was followed by a two-person show with Indian painter, Sanjoy Das, in January at the Venkatappa Gallery in Bangalore. Das traveled to Washington in 1991 as part of a cultural exchange project that Keler helped organize in an effort to bring Indian and American artists together.

...Keler showed a series of new works on paper, Twists and Turns, at her two exhibits in India. She describes these paintings as picking up a thread of personal narrative that has always been at the heart of her work. "I have always been painting my story while moving through abstract and figurative cycles. This semi-abstract series seeks to capture states of feeling in an elemental way, keeping its focus on the here and now," explains Keler.
