In Praise of Programming
I program to make things, pictures or sounds, mostly. But I also program just to program.
Great is my pleasure when some task, however large or small, is over and success is mine. But even more addictive are the early stages. There, each task is self-assigned and pondered at leisure.
It is there that I create a universe all my own. It is a house of many mansions, and I made them all. Architect, builder, and maintenance crew, I have come to know every chamber and corridor.
Best of all, it has a larger purpose. I make patterns to look at, to listen to, to enjoy, and to ponder. With luck, others will do so as well.
